Tips to make the most of your University life

University experience constitutes of more than just classes and books – it is also about the people you meet, the activities you engage in and the memories you make. You are expected to make adult decisions and steer the direction of your life. However, many of you might feel lost and/or overwhelmed in the whirlwind of university life.

Don’t worry, we have got you covered! Here are five tips that will help you make the most of your University life:

  1. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes
University experience is a world of greater possibilities. You can choose to become a different person, explore yourself and learn new things. It is good to try new things and strive higher. Sometimes you might make mistakes or fail at your endeavors. Maybe, your prototype doesn’t work or your presentation goes really bad. Don’t let it discourage you or stop you. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. It is all a learning experience, and it will help you become better at what you do. So, go ahead – work on that prototype again!
  1. Be proactive and Ask questions
If you spend your University life being lazy and reluctant, you are going to miss out on the best years of your life. So you have to be proactive and you have to look out for opportunities. You have to research and be curious. And if there is anything you are confused about or make doubts about, you must ask questions! Look around you, there are so many people who are looking out to help you. Take help, and ask questions!
  1. Join a club of your interest (or start one)
It is always good to find a community that shares that same interests as you. It can become like a safe space where you can explore and grow – and you can also help each other out and learn from each other. It can also help you boost your self-confidence. You can even start your own club if you wish to (with the permission from college) and practice your leadership skills.

Softwarica College has different clubs such as IT and Editorial club and Sports and Event club and Mentorship and Leadership club.
  1. Build new friendships
Don’t shy away from building new friendships during your time at University. University friendships can be beneficial for both your personal and professional growth. First of all, having strong friendships can help you stay sane amidst the insanity of university. Secondly, you can start something exciting with your friends and maybe that turns out to be something big! For example: Companies like Snapchat and Reddit were all started from University by a group of friends. Maybe that can be you and your friends as well.
  1. Say goodbye to your comfort zone
Comfort zone is a nice place, we get it! But you know what’s better? Outside the comfort zone! That’s where the magic happens. That’s where you excel. So,push yourself out of there, come out of your comfort zone.

Comfort zone tends to hold you back. Things such as excessive stress, boredom, self-criticism, fear etc, may stop you from growth. If you step out of all these barriers and come out of it, you will surely excel.

Here is an example of a Softwarica student who went out of their comfort zones and started their company:

Sujesh Harsha Bajracharya has a designing company that goes by Harsha Designs, started in October, 2013.
